We finally got back out into the wilderness last weekend and boy had we missed it! This was only our second backpacking trip since we finished the PCT because of all our new work demands. It was just a 3 day trek out of June Lake, and we were lucky enough to be joined by our daughter and her boyfriend. James had never been backpacking before, so we tried to ease him into the experience, however that didn’t really happen since the amount of snow was a little shocking. The traverses on the day out were a little gnarly, but they both did great and we all made it home safe and sound. We’re doing fine here and planning a 2-day celebration for the PCT thru-hikers as they approach the trail’s mid-point. If you’re near Humboldt Summit (NOBO Mile 1312), we’d be proud to toast you and DD again!

Thanks for this! I’ve been partial to the old style blogs, but I must say, hearing your footfalls crunching on the trail, or on the snow, and hearing the wind and the birdsong does add a nice touch! And it seems like you all had a great time. -Glide
